• Spotless: Give your laundry workers paid pandemic leave
Spotless Group Holdings is an integrated services company that also provides laundry management to hospitals and the broader health care system. Spotless laundry workers handle COVID linen from health care providers. Paid pandemic leave will give workers the peace of mind to take leave when they feel sick, even if they are casuals. It means no worker has to choose between their health and paying the bills; or worry about their next pay check when self isolating. For the good of the community, the workers and the company, Spotless must give workers paid pandemic leave now.

  • Northern Carpark Now!
Driving past the site to the southern car park is costing some workers up to 80 minutes every day. This is unpaid time away from their families that is completely unnecessary. Wood Group said they would provide a northern car park to stop this from happening. It's time they made good on that promise.

  • Donā€™t let bosses do a runner on wage theft! Criminalise wage theft NOW!
Iā€™m Tara, I'm 22 and Iā€™m a proud Hospo Voice member in Queensland. Wage theft up here is as bad as anywhere. And itā€™s time we did something about it. To get my first job in hospo, when I was 18, I first had to work for free as a ā€œvolunteerā€. At my next job, I was paid $18 per hour. No penalty rates, no super. I tried to fight for what I was owed. But I didnā€™t have proper payslips. I had no idea how to make these bosses pay up. I didnā€™t have the money to go to court. Eventually, I gave up. Iā€™ve had to accept that I won't get back my money. It makes me really angry. Working in hospo is my passion, so I want to make sure wage theft doesnā€™t keep happening to me or anyone else. I was blown away by how Hospo Voice members in Victoria helped win tough laws to criminalise wage theft, earlier this year. Now we need the Queensland Parliament to pass strong laws too- so wage thieves go to jail, and itā€™s quick and easy to win back what weā€™re owed. + + + + Brought to you by Hospo Voice - Your Hospitality Union. • Staff to resident ratios for quality aged care.
As secretary of the Bendigo Trades Hall I support our unions and their members and fight for all workers. However, this one hits closer to home. I have a sister that works in the aged care industry and my grandfather is a resident in one of the Royal Freemasons facilities. My sister loves her job and cares very much for the residents, but my sister still has the right to a safe reliable job and my grandfather needs quality care that can only be provided by our experienced aged care staff. Reducing the staffing levels to meet their budget Royal Freemasons is putting the safety of both the staff and the residents at risk. Please help me call on the government to put the care of our loved ones and the safety of the wonderful caring staff before profits. Tell the government we need ratios in the private aged care sector.

  • Woolworths: Wage equality now!
Woolworths has made mega profits due to the pandemic. Woolworth Wyong warehouse staff have moved more during the pandemic than the last three consecutive record breaking Christmas periods, helping the company achieve record growth. Now they want to be paid equally to workers in the big city.

  • Protect healthcare workers with paid pandemic leave
Health, aged care, and disability support workers cannot socially distance from the people they work with and are at higher risk of contracting COVID-19. Many of these frontline heroes are in low paid and insecure work and cannot afford to take time off. Saying no to a shift can mean the difference between putting food on the table or going hungry. Paid pandemic leave for health, aged care and disability support workers is not just the right thing to do, it is a critical public health measure. We see the growing evidence coming from Victoria. As at 23rd July: - The Victorian Government figures state there are 447 COVID cases linked to 35 aged care sites. - 529 healthcare workers have been infected so far. - 80% of COVID transmissions in Victoria have been in workplaces. - Of 3,810 cases between 7-21 July, nearly 90% (3,400) did not isolate between feeling sick and getting a test. And the rest of Australia is not immune. We cannot have Australian workers going to work with a runny nose or mild symptoms because they are worried about how they will pay for the groceries at weekā€™s end. We cannot wait until the situation gets worse. Stop stalling - fund paid pandemic leave for health, aged care, and disability support workers.

  • Enough is enough - Bus drivers deserve protection
Our bus drivers fear being killed or seriously injured for simply doing their job. We are aware of 9 assaults since last month alone. As our recent Bus Driver Safety Survey shows, these are not isolated incidents. There is a wider crisis engulfing our bus network where bus driver abuse has become so normalised it is simply seen as part of the job. Since March 2020, more than 40% of drivers now believe their job has become more unsafe and dangerous because of physical assaults and verbal abuse. Over 60% have been verbally abused and 7% physically assaulted in only 3 months. We canā€™t rely on ā€˜officialā€™ Government figures. The TWU and our members know the true figures are much higher. Bus drivers have stopped reporting physical and verbal assault because daily abuse is now just seen as part of the job and they believe nothing gets done. Despite repeated attempts to engage with the former Minister for Transport, Stephan Knoll, to tackle this issue he repeatedly stuck his head in the sand and ignored the desperate calls from drivers to improve safety across the bus network. Minister Knoll did not even bother to show up to the TWU Bus Safety Summit which was attended by all key stakeholders, including bus operators, driver representatives, SAPOL, and the Opposition. Bus drivers deserve respect and protection. The TWU has consistently improved safety and conditions and we will not stop fighting. Now we need your help as we demand the Marshall Government introduces the highest industry standards of safety for drivers!

  • Protect the Workers Who Protect Health Workers NOW!
Security Officers deal with violence and aggression at work every day. They put themselves on the line to protect health workers so they can provide essential services to the people of WA. Security Officers working on a casual basis in the NMHS sites have been treated differently to every other group of public sector workers across the state. Some of these officers have been working 'casually' for up to a decade - and we say 'enough is enough! Security officers get hurt at work protecting others and face the stresses of dealing with aggression and violence on every shift. Continuing to employ them casually is just not good enough. Security Officers deserve the protection of permanent employment so they can do their best to protect WA Health workers and the community.

  • We support a Fair Go for Sunny Coast Garbos
The Sunshine Coast waste contract is going up for tender this year and our local garbo's are at risk of being forced to do the same job for significantly reduced pay and conditions. Our Garbos work hard and are fellow rate payers with families to support. Our Garbos have been essential workers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, keeping our streets and our communities clean at a time when that has never been more critical. They should not be punished due to an administrative decision by Council.

  • Petition against the Unauthorised use of in-cab cameras
We believe companies who use surveillance technology to spy on us in our trucks are using this type of surveillance to invade our privacy. It should not be the intention to use this technology to discipline drivers instead of its intended purpose, as a safety measure. We spend days at a time in our cabs. They are our desks; they are our bunks. We eat, sleep, and breathe in our trucks and ask for respect when it comes to our privacy.

  • Open the Books: Financial Transparency at the University of Melbourne
The University has made clear that it intends to carry out restructuring which will see workers across the University made redundant, and has made no promises to retain casual and fixed-term staff, hundreds of whom have already lost their jobs. Senior management have not made the case that any of these job cuts are necessary and should open up their books so that the university community can see the real extent of the financial crisis. This is key information that staff and union representatives need in order to fully assess any change plans proposed by the University.
