Save Barak Beacon! Defend Public Housing!
1. The Victorian State Government agrees to retain 100% genuine public housing at Barak Beacon, which is publicly owned and run.
2. Demolition works cease immediately and the Retain, Repair, Reinvest proposal is implemented.
3. Margaret Kelly retains her home on the estate and all other residents aren’t forcibly displaced from their homes and communities for longer than 12 months.

Why is this important?
Margaret has made Barak Beacon her home for 26 years, she has every right to stay in her community.
The Victorian Government is tearing communities apart for a quick buck.
Demolished blocks and brand new houses are sitting empty instead of housing the 57,000 people in desperate need of a home.
Looking at the views from Barak Beacon, it’s no wonder the Victorian Government is keen to hand over the keys to private developers.
Everyone has the right to safe, stable, and affordable housing.
The Victorian State government's preferred model is so-called "Community Housing" or "Social Housing".
This is NOT Public Housing. It is an inefficient form of subsidised, private housing.
The terminology is manipulative and confusing to the public.
"Social" and "Community Housing" cannot and will not solve the housing crisis.
