Please Adam Bandt & the Greens - Support Help to Buy!

Dear Mr Bandt,

Last month, we saw your Greens Party team up with the Coalition to vote down the Albanese Government’s Help to Buy and Build to Rent Bills in the Senate.

We knew Peter Dutton and the Liberal-National Coalition would block the Bill.

But the Greens committed to supporting a Share Equity & a Build to Rent to Buy scheme before the last election.

Your party’s words called for a fairer housing market, but the Green’s actions have held up low- and middle-income earners from buying a home.

The Help to Buy Scheme would support 40,000 low- and middle-income earners buy their first home with as little as a 2 percent deposit.

Independent housing experts agree this scheme would not inflate house prices, and would be a breakthrough for people struggling to save a deposit.

The Albanese Government have promised to reintroduce this Bill.

And we need the Greens Party to put political games aside and vote for it to help us solve the housing crisis.

Shifting the housing market is complex.  Real progress needs multiple policy changes and we need the government to use all leavers available.

We need all members of parliament to show they truly support fair and affordable housing by acting like it.

Can we count on the Greens to support real change?

Why is this important?

We cannot fix the housing crisis unless we pull all levers available.

We need to Greens to work together and introduce the Share Equity Scheme (Help to Buy) - where the government co-owns the property with the first home owner to help them with a smaller deposit and have lower each mortgage repayment.
