Weekends still mean something in Australia. Everyone who has to work on the weekend sacrifices important time with their family and friends. Working people should be compensated for working nights, early mornings and weekends - no matter what their job. A cut to weekend rates is a pay cut they can’t afford and don’t deserve.

Why is this important?
The Federal Liberal Government has just received a report recommending cuts to weekend rates for people working in retail and hospitality. This would mean a huge pay cut for weekend workers that they can’t afford and don’t deserve. And it wouldn’t stop with people in these industries.
Large employer groups are stepping up their campaign to cut weekend penalty rates, and there is legislation before Parliament that would make it easier for businesses to force people to give up their penalty rates under individual contracts.
We can't just stand by and let this happen, so we are getting together to do something about it. Sign the petition to support weekend penalty rates and together we will Save Our Weekend.
